Laurie Van Mondfrans
I have always seen myself as an artist since I was a little girl, earning a BFA in Illustration from Utah State University and worked in Salt Lake City as an illustrator, graphic designer and art director for design studios and advertising agencies for 15 years. After 25 years of working on a computer, I wanted to create with my hands, making jewelry had always interested me. Craft Alliance offered classes with patient and encouraging metalsmith teachers. My skills developed beyond simple bezel-setting stones to a stylized imagery and incorporating cast botanicals and found objects into designs. Lost wax casting captures nature's detail and pieces are beautiful alone for rings and pendants.
