Society for Midwest Metalsmiths
General Meeting Minutes May 22, 2010


Location: Villa Park in Olivette
Time: 12:00 p.m.
Presiding: Kathryn Bowman

Attending: Jan Barrett, Kathryn Bowman, Deborah Daher, Sherri Jaudes, Ellen Klamon, Nell Kobes, Lanie Kodner, Debbie LaFara, Linda Lankford, Mindy Mass, Penny Pittman, Dayne Sislen, Al Wenneker, and Ray Wenneker

Treasurer’s Report: Wendy will talk to the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts to determine how to handle access money and how much money we should be giving away. Net income Fundraising: $205 Membership Dues: $410 Workshops: $2261
Notable expenses: Maryville’s Summer Arts Institute scholarship: $480.
Metal Inclinations: $5900 expenses so far,
still have web site development expenses and exhibition announcement ads to run. Entries will hopefully offset expenses.

Membership: Status 2 new memberships 1 new student membership

Newsletter: The SMM Newsletter was distributed on May 22

Exhibition: Metal Inclinations2: Show Info: All jewelry this time, 3 new judges. Deadline is June 30th, $40 for 3 entries. July 18th extension $10 extra. Membership encouraged to enter.

Workshop Committee: June 26: Build Your Own Workbench / Sherri Jaudes 7 people have signed up July 10-11: Moving Metal / Joe Muench 10 people have signed up.

Marketing: There are 4,000 people on Third Degree’s Mailing List

Scholarships: Summer Programs: 1 scholarship given to Maryville 2 scholarships given to Craft Alliance

Photo shoot: w/ Don Casper: Photos from Don’s photo shoot were distributed

Heikki Seppa Passing: Information on Memorial will be posted on the website Ray Wenneker will write an article for the newsletter
